Construction
of the Horse Shoe Road - Kokstad

This project comprises the construction of 3.1kilometres of
double–seal surfaced road around the Horse Shoe township in Ward
1 of the Greater Kokstad Municipality. The client is the Greater
Kokstad Municipality and the project is funded by Municipal
Infrastructure Grants. Scientific Roets (PTY) Ltd and Enacu
Consulting Engineers are Joint Venture civil engineering
consultants who have designed and are managing and supervising
the construction of the road.
The Horse Shoe Road currently has two existing roads, Road 2 and
Road 3, which have limited road reserves and dysfunctional storm
water systems that need rehabilitation. Road 2 is 1.26km long
and has an existing sub–base layer of 600m, and Road 3 is 1.69km
long and has 400m of existing sub–base layer. The scope of
construction works is to rip the existing sub–base layers and
construct the road to a 4.5m wide double–seal surfaced road and
to provide better storm water management.
