Partners in Development

The success of Scientific Roets cannot be ascribed only to the organisation itself, but to the many partners, sub-contractors and friends who provide essential sources of knowledge and expertise in our daily operations.

These include:

  • Mr Njabulo Maseko, a lawyer (legal advisory services especially related to innovative institutional development). Njabulo is an independent Non-Executive Director of Scientific Roets (PTY) Ltd and a Trustee of the Scientific Roets Employee’s Trust.
  • Mrs Xoliswa Nodada of Weza Social Development Services (social facilitation). Xoliswa is an independent Non-Executive Director of Scientific Roets (PTY) Ltd and a Trustee of the Scientific Roets Employee’s Trust.
  • Dr Peter Plumstead, a poultry specialist who contributes his vast amount of experience and knowledge to the KwaXolo Chicken Project, the Pietermaritzburg Alternative Hatchery Project and the Kokstad Point-of-Lay-Pullet Project.
  • Justin van Fleet of Advance Associates (USA) and Scientific Roets (PTY) Ltd collaborate on Rural Education and Intellectual Property Rights innovations and are planning several new collaborations in the future (www.theadvanceassociates.com).
  • Dr Zenete França of Zenete França and Associates (ZFA), based in Portugal, draws together a network of specialists from Africa (including Dr Merida Roets), Latin America and Asia who have worked together on agricultural learning and capacity building programs in developing countries for the past two decades.
  • Dr Simba Sibanda of Troparg, Zimbabwe, has assisted Scientific Roets (PTY) Ltd in its own Strategic Planning and has been a fellow contributor to the “Agricultural Research Management for Innovation” courses presented at ISNAR-IFPRI in Ethiopia (www.troparg.com). Dr Sibanda and Scientific Roets (PTY) Ltd have worked in partnership on several national and international tenders.
  • Other alliances are project specific, such as:
  • The “Intellectual Property Rights of Indigenous Resources” research project in collaboration with the University of Pretoria, CIRAD (French), Western Cape Dept. of Agriculture, Namibian Partners, and Justin van Fleet of Advance Associates (USA)
  • Working as partner with Ms. Terry Myburgh of Sombhulula Management Services CC to develop the Makana Milk Goat Project in Grahamstown (www.makanagoatvillage.org.za)
  • Working with SEDA-NW, Invest NW, the Bophirima District Municipality and others to re-design and develop the red meat industry of the Bophirima District of the North West Province (Bophirima Red Meat Beneficiation Project – Scientific Roets)
