Number 1: Our New Offices
Rural Development – Going back to our “Roets”

the Kokstad Fever following our opening function in May 2007)
“We started the company four and half years ago in a small
office in Mount Ayliff. However, we saw that the need for rural
development was great and as our staff numbers grew we moved our
head offices to Kokstad. Now we have a proud legacy of
successful project achievements which we can share with
prospective clients,” was the opening statement from Dr Merida
Roets, co-director of the Rural Development Company, Scientific
Roets.
Dr Roets, along with her husband and co-director, Adriaan, a
Professional Engineer, and staff, presided over an official
opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at their new offices at 96
Hope Street on Thursday evening with invited guests. Guests were
shown around the modern, spacious and high-tech facility and
introduced to the friendly and helpful staff. Adriaan and Merida
explained the core purpose of the company and highlighted
several previous, current and future projects.
The company was established with the vision of becoming the
preferred service provider of rural development innovations in
Africa. Its target market is community, municipal, provincial
and national authorities and programmes that aim to develop
rural Africa and Scientific Roets assists this market to achieve
their community development goals. Their core business includes
the design and implementation of innovative agricultural
enterprises, infrastructure and institutions and the provide the
relevant accredited capacity building (Scientific Roets offers
agricultural, small business and ABET training programmes).
During the presentation, great emphasis was placed on the staff
members and their individual and specialised skills in the
various departments. Amongst the invited guests were people who
have experienced great business success with the assistance of
Scientific Roets.
